This Hiragana stuff
Damn. I might figure out this Hiragana stuff after all. XDXD
Legal Studies is all about eating people In other news, I had my interview (IT WAS SCARY!) and I've discovered that I sort of don't want to tutor (I don't wanna have to deal with people who suck at writing >_<) but if they pay me I will. I think. I also did a lot of walking today because I didn't wanna go back to the aparto for some reason o_O and I discovered a little Japanese market a street up and a block or so down from me. And it has manga and copies of Shonen Jump! And I think you can read the Shonen Jump there if you buy stuff and eat there because they have old copies under the counter. They also have small boxes of Digimon foodstuffs and Hamtaro candy. LOL. Oh, and they have rice which I could have gotten THERE instead of SF. Bleh. >_< Yesh, went to the library and picked up a copy of Cien sonetos de amor and Neruda rules and don't you ever let yourself be fooled into disbelieving that for a second, despite Odes to Socks and the like. Also got a copy of The Book of Enchantments so I can finally read that. Patricia Wrede. *LOVE* Um, that's pretty much it. Oh, except the guy from the Used Computer shop FOLLOWED ME DOWN THE STREET to the frame store because they do have routers after all and that sort of made me go: o_O Potato.
Okay, done for now.
classes and naps Now, if only it weren't held at 8:00 in the morning. *TWITCH* NEED COFFEE. Too bad I don't drink it. >___<
*Smacks self* WAKE UP! ;_;
I can typically be relied upon. At least that's something, I guess.
Good luck on the remaining quizzes!
Um. *goes off to read about eating ppl* (No, really, it's for class. o_O)
YAY! ^____^
P.S. SOOOOOOOO tired. I must learn how to stay awake in extreme heat. Or rather . . . how to stay awake in class at all? Erk.
What a morning Well, there was no note. o_O Now, I'm assuming we DON'T have discussion section since typically they don't start until the second week of class, but sometimes they do because they want to verify your enrollment or because (such as in this case) they just want to laugh at you. >_< BUT, I can't take the chance there isn't discussion ('tis not prudent) and thus, must kill the next hour and go to discussion again, find out there IS NO DISCUSSIOn for certain, then slaughter another hour and go to Japanese. BLEH. And today's my long day so I don't finish until 4. And discussion section for my waitlisted (and class I'm debating whether to take or not as opposed to this morning's - slept through the first one, didn't HAVE class this morning ._.) class is cancelled so I have another hour break. Oh, PLEASE LET LS 151 Discussion be cancelled too, so I can go home at 2:00 PM! PLEASE???? I'm asking nicely. ;_;
*snorrrrrre*
Got Rice? Need Sleep! Um, have accomplished basically nothing this last week unless it revolves around apartment stuff. Oh, and only have partial internet access right now XP so blogging and such will be . . . erm . . . erratic. Yes, possibly even MORE so than it has been! o_O; Did tutor app. and wrote four pages on why this essay (sucky essay they included in the application) sucks and this person needs to improve under my exacting guidance. >:| Methinks I may be very, very, VERY overqualified for this position. So they'd damn well better give it to me! With pay! PAAAAAAYYYY!!!!! Ugh, class at 10 tomorrow. 8 TT. o_O;;; Am gonna pass out. Probably have to sleep soon. >_< Ewwww! SO EARLY!!!!!!,p> I'm worried because the other half of my Chinese Online Comics order has yet to arrive at home. o_O; NEED KODOCHA. NEED HIMECHAN. NEED CHERRY PROJECT to be AT HOME AND WAITING FOR ME when I come home for Thanksgiving! Grrrrr. Oh yes, did I not mention the whole need money thing enough? NEED MONEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYY!!! (Looks like monkey! Monkey!)
Need sleep?
Update, Update
Oh, also trying to get writing tutor job. Cross your fingers, wish me luck, and hope the weekly training sessions are not on Monday nights. 'Kay?
Oh. Am NOT employed and almost got run over (on purpose) by a car. Fun fun.
Aren't I happy to be back? -_-
up early At any rate *mind quietly implodes* CLAMP, you do NOT crossover Angelic Layer and Chobits, you here me?! No! Spoilers gleaned from ppl's blogs to follow: Okay, here's what I managed to get from people blogging about Angelic Layer crossing into Chobits. Minoru's older (deceased) sister is Saitou Kaede. o_O; I LIKE Kaede. >_< Icchan is probably dead? No one plays Angelic Layer anymore. Oh, and I got freaked out for about two seconds that kanrinin-san might be Hatoko (NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but her first name is Chitose so I'm hoping NOT. I really wish people would just write about what's happening because I WANT TO KNOW and have NO IDEA! -_-;;;
Well, anyways, the most important thing today is . . . "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!" (who DOESN'T read this pitas, thank the powers that be! ^^;;;;)
Today (now Yesterday?) GRRRRAAAARRRRR! *eats Livejournal* Oh, and I mixed up my contacts last night, wore them today, and am still worried about whether I'm wearing the right one on the left eye or vice versa. I mean, the nearsightedness is -10.0 and -10.5 or something on both eyes so it's not THAAAT different, but the astigmatism on the right eyes is like 5 and the one on the left is like fifty-kajillion (can't remember exact figures) with a rotation or whatsis of like 143 degrees or something. So I'm just a tad worried . . . >_____< Maybe I WILL ask Mummy to drive me to the optometrist tomorrow even though it's like 40 minutes away and she's NOT going to be happy. >_< In other news, the diningroom table is covered in tupperware drawers full of my clothes and it is impossible to find another pair of comfy, hideously ugly shoes like the ones I have since they're not in style anymore. -_- But Ross had lovely putrid metallic green and putrescent purple ones that look like something only Barney the Purple Dinosaur would be caught wearing. Also, can't find jellies that will fit anyone older than 8 months old. Am very sad. Thought I'd go back to school making fashion statements and the like. Alas, alas. And I'm supposed to be hideously ashamed because while re-watching some Argent Soma with my brother I didn't know that a MIG25 is a Russian military aircraft. ;_; My brother yelled at me, I ran to complain to my mother and ask her if SHE knew what a MIG was to which she promptly replied: "A Russian plane" and told me that "everybody knows that!" and then preceded in the regular lecture about filling my mind with world events instead of manga and anime. >_< ICK. I feel incredibly stupid that I'm not up on my military aircrafts. No, REALLY. It's just sad how ignorant I am. And my brother knows what the Miginot Line is too. Blech. I've gotta go educate myself . . . . Went to a travel agent today too. Going to get job, save money, go on trip next summer to Japan and China (for only 0 extra o_O) and stock up on Inuyasha, HikaGo, Digimon, Fruits Basket, Sen to Chihiro, Argent Soma (if I can find it and if it isn't yaoi . . . RyuxDan . . . BLECH!), Howl's Moving Castle, and anything else that I can think of. (Ooooh, wonder if there's .hack//SIGN doujinshi?) And will borrow MAD SHOPPING SKILLZ so that I may buy various and sundry to fill my empty suitcase with. ^______________^ And I'm DESPERATE to pick up a set of Kingyo Chuuihou manga. @_@
Hmmm, I wonder if my mom will make me pick up F4 merchandise for her? ^^;
HOWWWLLLLL!!!!!!
I'm looking forward to it! Damn. There probably won't be more doujinshi out by the time we get to Japan. >_____<
A Little Bit Hyper And AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! Latest chapter of HikaGo is in FULL-COLOUR! ALL OF IT! I dunno why. ^^; HIKARU, AKIRA, the two of you had BETTER win your games! PLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEEE?????????? I'm not really sure what they're actually SAYING in the chapter, but I'm reading the facial expressions! And as for Furuba. Kyou, I love you. ;_; (No, Merr, he's not dead or anything. LOL.) Mmmm, and trip to travel agency has been delayed until tomorrow.
And my Chinese Soap Opera is GOOD STUFF, tho' my grandma seems WAAAAAY more into it than me. XDXD But, honestly, these people angst more than CLAMP characters! Ew, hurry up and get to the romance angle! Si-Wei, of COURSE Ching-Ching's angry at you for trying to marry her off to what's-his-face. GET A CLUE. (I already know what's going to happen . . . but I can still yell at the characters! LOUDLY!)
Fun.
I DON'T WANNA GO BACK, DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!! Where did my summer go? DOKO DOKO? ;_;
On continuations . . . the bad, the ugly, the horrendous, unspeakable horrors Miss Warner hasn't written a word in years. The woman is DEAD. I call this blasphemy on a large scale. Granted, I wouldn't care so much if story continuity was taken into account, but, quite frankly, it's thrown to the winds the last time I checked . . . back when there were only 40 or so of these books. As near as I can tell they're being pumped out at a rate of one per month. >_____< I've ranted about this before, but that was BEFORE I knew the extent of the carnage. It doesn't help that I've learned that someone else is continuing his father's rather famous series of novels and apparently also disregarding story continuity. >_< (I'm not talking about the Herberts because I honestly have no idea how that's going.) Remember, boys and girls, when I'm cold and in the ground, NOBODY is going to write continuations of ANYTHING I write unless I give them express permission . . . and to do that I'd have to be pretty DAMN sure they could pull it off properly. UGH. The last thing I'd want to inflict on anyone else is the slow, sickly poisoning of their childhood.
New Robotech comics may also be disregarding already established comic continuity . . . but I don't think that's very new in comic books. What I want to know is whether the new Robotech episodes will take the novels' story continuity into account since I think the writing duo (for as long as they were an actual duo) of Jack McKinney did a DAMN fine job? Here's hoping. I'd really love to see "End of the Circle" on the screen. ^_________^
Keenspot Drive-by Weird.
Brother: Look!
The world is a funny place.
Spending money and trying not to scratch . . . . . . or maybe not. ^^;;; I also blew (half of August's allowance) on a set of 42 VCDs of Ching Ching Hu Bien Tsao (I don't think that's proper han yu ping ing AT ALL) which is my absolute favorite Chinese Soap Opera from 10+ years ago. ^_^; (I won't count Meteor Garden since it's based on Hana Yori Dango.) Oh, but the episodes are an hour each and everyone's talking far too much and angsting more than I thought posssible. o_O; And I have to go over to the relative's place to watch them. 42 one hour-long episodes. I saw 4 today. >_< Meep! But, but, but! The nostalgia!!!!! And I own the book too! It's . . . somewhere. Of course, I can't READ any of it, but . . . I OWN IT! XDXDXD Ew . . . I'm SOOOO BROKE ALREADY! Volumes 1-4, 6-10 of Hime-chan no Ribon manga came in the mail Thursday. #5, and 1-3 of The Cherry Project, and my missing 9-10 of Kodomo no Omocha should be coming shortly . . . but probably after I leave. >_< UGH. I can't get in touch with my apartment manager!!!!!! -_- And my wrist is still swollen and red and itchy like hell. (For details see Golden Apples.)
And I'm obsessing over Older Rin x Sesshoumaru. Excessively. And 90% of that type of fanfiction seems to be lemons. O_O I shan't complain . . . ^_^;
And a rambling we will go! I've also decided that I like Diana Wynne Jones' writing, though I'm not that into "A Sudden Wild Magic" which I started reading on the plane to Utah, read the end of, skimmed through the middle, and which is now languishing in partlyreadsville with "A Portrait in Sepia" and probably half a dozen other books. Of course, I assume it's because "A Sudden Wild Magic" is written for adults and "Howl's Moving Castle" is written for not-quite adults and I've always been fonder of things written for that category of readers. ^_^ I've also decided that the only thing of Allende that I actively enjoy is "Daughter of Fortune" because while I tried to force myself through "House of the Spirits" it didn't quite work and "A Portrait in Sepia" is going very slowly indeed . . . probably because I've skimmed through it twice now. I did boggle for a bit at the fact that Aurora Del Valle is related to Clara from "House of the Spirits." I mean, I never would have thought that "Eliza Summers" from "Daughter of Fortune" was in any way connected to that family. o_O *sigh* But then, L'Engle does that too. Excessively. Speaking of L'Engle, as much as I love her writing, WHY do all of her earlyish novels seem to be set with the heroine at a boarding school she hates (I'm also partway through "And Both Were Young" and I just finished "A Small Rain")?? I understand drawing from one's own life, but still . . . *sigh* I think it's very apt to say that even with writers you like there is bound to be at least one work (assuming that writer has written more than one thing) which you will dislike. For me, it's the adult books. (Though I did enjoy "A Small Rain" for a wonder.) They're so DEPRESSING. And "A Live Coal in the Sea" is currently making my brain go >_<. Especially since I skimmed through the whole blasted thing. I like her Time Quartet, I dislike Poly, I like Meg, I like Vicky even better than I like Meg, and things with relatively happy endings are nice. So there. I'm currently trying to get my hands on a copy of "Troubling a Star" which I think I liked but not as much as "A Ring of Endless Light" which is my complete and absolute favorite. Speaking of which, Disney has made a movie of this (I think it airs in August . . . but Vicky is trying to stop a DRIFTNET operation threatening the dolphins? >_______< See previous post for the question I must ask Disney. They've also got "A Wrinkle in Time" mini-series set to air sometime soon.). So, authors I like: Madeleine L'Engle, Patricia C. Wrede, Susan Fletcher, Neil Gaiman, Anne McCaffrey, and Diana Wynne Jones. I envy their ability to write with a single phrase what it takes me half a page to write. Wrede, Fletcher, and Jones especially. But the writing's not sparse, which I hate. Thus, my aversion to Hemingway.
But really, and I'm just babbling now and I know it, you either love most everything by an author or like only one thing (that is, if you like the author at all). And for the latter category I'm afraid I'll have to include Robin McKinley whose "Beauty" I love but the other stuff I've read by her doesn't do much for me. Though some of the short stories in "A Knot in the Grain" were pretty good. "Beauty" was her first book, though, and I've always thought that with a first book you're at your creative peak or at least a creative high. It won't be your best written book, but it COULD be your best one. There comes a point in a writer's life where the writing just begins to decline. I want to hit it at the END of my career. Anyways, I'll chuck E.B. White in that grouping too, since I only love "Trumpet of the Swan" and that I love excessively. Mmmm, and I know there's more, but I'm tired and rambling and am maybe going to go write something brilliant and not idiotic like this now. G'night.
Sometimes I wonder . . . Okay, so I caught the end of "Little Mermaid II" on the Disney channel today. ._O I think I may still be twitching.
Oooookaaaay, so let's take stock of the damage. Flounder has gained weight in middle-age AND has a comb-over and apparently has a passel of kids(?) (I'm not sure, I missed a good bit here and there - but he's voiced by Cam Clarke - which actually SCARES me in this case); Eric and Ariel's Castle is near Antartica(?); the Seawitch Morgana is Ursula's sister? daughter? (like I said I missed a lot) has the same voice and steals most of Ursula's lines; Melody is a willful, spoiled brat, who, even taking into account the fact that's she's angry at her mother, doesn't think about her father at all; her parents built a WALL to keep her away from the sea; Eric is now an uke (no, really, please DO contrast macho manly Eric from the first movie with his new COMPLETELY uke self - this is also made 10 times worse because Rob Paulsen does his voice and he typically does an excellent job of gung-ho macho men >_<); Scuttle has a pot belly, Triton gets his trident stolen AGAIN, a walrus, a penguin, and a shark show up, the seawitch gets frozen in a block of ice (which I am assuming will someday MELT), and the song Ariel sings from the first movie is back in all its Nashville glory. *twitch twitch*
I'm debating whether this is a good thing? ![]() Take the Which Utada Hikaru Song Are you? Quiz! Watermelon tasted "oishii" on Thursday, August 1, 2002: 04:31 p.m.
I'm sensing a trend . . .
The wrist's a little better, btw.
Ugh, this is certainly going to put a damper on writing for a bit. >_<
Wading
It's really hard when most of your waters are rather shallow. Unfortunately, I don't really think it's possible to add depth to oneself . . .
Now you are as old as I am. *pokes*
Chobits and Vampires And D is a very sexy bastard. And Andrew Philpot's voice was pretty sexy too. ^^; Leila (Leyla?) was the most irritating character, tho'. Wendee Lee did, as usual, a good job as Charlotte. Mmmm, I like Vampire Hunter D! I only saw the end of the first movie, tho'. And Lefthand is annoying, but his last line is great. XDXDXD I WANT the soundtrack. O_O LOL.
Thank you, Blockbuster. You've been very helpful. XD Next up: Petshop of Horrors!
I've decided that I'm in love with good director's commentaries. XDXDXD This one was excellent. It commented on the fact that in the japanese original the writers came up with an unwritten backstory that little girl's (Me/Molly) mother had a fight with her father because he was a workaholic and then his behaviour drove her crazy and she was institutionalized. XDXD To which the American adapters went ". . ." o_O and changed it to her mother disappearing while researching the Unown. Some of their comments were priceless. LOL. *Hehe* They even touched on whether they're eating Pokemon or not. XD 'Cause you know how the kids eat meat and fish, right? So what exactly are they eating because you never see animals other than Pokemon, right? My brother and I have a joke, years old, about Brock opening a BBQ restaurant and running commercials in which he says, "C'mon down to Brock's and try our delicious crispy fried Zubat! Or how about our special Zubat and Golbat platter?!" XDXDXD I guess you just hafta be there? ^^; They also talked about (well, sort of) the lack of parents and adult figures in Pokemon. As well as Satoshi and his mother's casual relationship and how she was actually scolding him at the end of the second movie in the original not because she was worried about him but because he saved the world. XDXDXD Oh! And we finally get to learn something about Ash's father in season five, apparently. Speaking of which, the real kicker is that there's apparently an American-produced (and totally unrelated to the original Japanese show) Pokemon: The Musical! in which it's revealed that Giovanni is Ash's father! To which I say, the industry and the fanfickers are thinking a bit more on the same lines that you might think. XDXD LOL, Giovanni as Ash's father fanfickers, you are vindicated! At least, sort of. XDXDXD
Hmm, I think that's about it. Oh yes, and I love Charizard. ^____^
Why the educational system sucks
And I think my GPA went down again? ;_; Ewww, need all A's this semester. Definitely NOT taking the Legal Studies Economic course. BLARRRGH.
Back and Blogging Yellowstone was nice. I saw elk and bison and deer and four coyotes and bears (black and grizzly - which we duly reported to the park ranger at the visitors center who patently did NOT believe us and entered our sighting into a large trapper labeled UFO and Alien Sights with "+ Bears" written on it with pen. ^^;;;;;) and a bald eagle and my trumpeter swan. And I can now say that I've been to Montana. Yay! ^___^ Watched the first ep of Excel Saga (dubbed) that came on my ADV trailer DVD thingy and all I can say is NO WONDER Jessica Calvello's vocal chords blew out (errr, got strained?). Now that I think about it, I wonder how Kotono Mitsuishi manages it? Hrrrm. Um, what else going on . . . I'm caught up on e-mail! YAY ME! Even if people are e-mailing me about KKJ episode summaries? WTH? I'm confuzzled. >_< I got two posting requests for "Casting Stones" which is nice (and should really be written in the fanfic blog, but I'm lazy). I'm really happy Tin's feeling better, is out of the hospital, is hallucination-less (you are a) all of the above, right?), and is back with new blog layouts even! What's this about veinte, tho'? XDXD And I will wait patiently for your e-mail when you're all caught up with other things because you've had a tremendously awful time lately and definitely need a rest. >_< Uhhh, what else. Oh yeah, I promised to write about all that stuff before. But I'm tired and not in a ranting mood so let's just say I picked up a copy of a Saint Seiya CD (which I have never even SEEN, btw) for at the library. Yes, the library. And it was so of COURSE I had to get it!! BTW, as far as I can make out "Golden Heart" sounds an AWFUL lot like "Goldie Hawn" in Engrish. ^^;; Oh, and Gina-P love the latest comic. Especially the overly excited Chibis. Cracks me up everytime. XDXD And Hisoka is just so wonderfully deadpan, it's adorable.
And Merr, I'm oodles proud of you for watching so much Hikago and Furuba! XDXDXD
*grumble grumble grumble* >_<
I am very sad. ;_;
Oh well! See you next week!
Also. For the record:
*snarls* DAMN YOU, TOKYOPOP! You really *DID* drop Harlem Beat! I KNEW IT! *snarl snarl snarl* Yes, I'm upset.
Hmmm, what a complete and total non-surprise.
The day I DON'T get water or Cancer-related things will be an interesting day indeed. ^^;; Stereotypical Cancer indeed.
Oops
odds ends whatchamacallits
Oh, BTW, Ming-Ling, my brother and I both enjoyed your Sen to Chihiro music video!! ^_^ *Hehe* Gotta love animemusicvideos.org!
Rant rant ranty rant rant Hmmmph! Besides, should they REALLY be targetting a younger audience? C'mon kids, drive your cars REALLY FAST over the speed limit on MOUNTAIN PASSES! It's FUN! It's EXCITING! Takumi's been driving without a license for THREE YEARS! Oh yeah, I can see where THIS is going . . . >_< Ew, I wish they could just be SMART and take what the FANS want into account. Well, I'm not buying IniD until the special edition uncut version (there damn well BETTER be one!) comes out. >_< Also, WHERE THE HELL is Harlem Beat volume 10???? I read that it was supposed to be released in APRIL and it's NO LONGER on the release schedule. -_-;;; I'm VERY irritated if they've dropped it since it still has 18-20? volumes to go. The least they could do was make an announcement or something. I DO realize that it's probably not all that popular, but *I* like it. ;_; And I'm worried about Saint Tail since I have this VERY bad feeling they might stop a volume early since 8 isn't listed on their site. GAH. Damn you, Tokyopop! The only thing you have going for you is cheap prices and great taste. If you didn't have those two, I'd have given up on you years ago! But now when you have the ability to actually DO SOMETHING RIGHT FOR A CHANGE you're screwing yourselves over once again. Really, I applaud you. -_-; In other news, Infinite Ryvius, Rahxephon, and Chobits have all been licensed . . . Nuuuuuuuu~! Ginaaaaa~! ;_; Need MONEY! Lots of MONEY! >_< Mahoromatic 2 is airing/has aired? soon and there is NO planned Noir sequel.
Hmmm, am going to attempt to buy a DVD per month so I can finish off Boogiepop Phantom. Next up, Saint Tail. After that . . . um, does anyone know if Shinesman is on DVD? I've never seen it but I've heard good things? Oh, wait, maybe FY OAV 2. ^___^ Waiting until I make enough money to buy FY collector sets 1 and 2. And I wanna watch Nadia! But it's SOOOO long. >_< Gah. All right, I'll stop whining about things I wanna buy now. *sigh*
